Uriarte’s research focuses on Latino studies and public policy in minority communities.

Activities & Honors:
Professor Miren Uriarte is a sociologist, specializing in applied sociology and race and ethnic relations. Her areas of expertise include institutional development in minority communities; policy analysis focused on the differential impact of social policy on minority communities in general and on Latinos in the U.S. specifically; and program development and evaluation research in education, health care, and human services in the U.S. and abroad. She directs the Mauricio Gastón Institute for Latino Community Development and Public Policy and also teaches in the PhD Program in Public Policy at the McCormack Graduate School of Policy Studies at UMB.
